This project, now over a decade old, features a bath crafted from a gemstone and a tap forged in gold. Sharing it today doesn’t feel like revealing a secret anymore, but rather showcasing a timeless piece of art
In a blend of unparalleled craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, the bathomatic gemstone bath project emerges as a symbol of ultimate luxury and innovation. This wasn’t just a bath; it was an artisanal masterpiece, chiselled from a single, exquisite gemstone, boasting a design where the drain and overflow were ingeniously concealed, preserving the stone’s natural elegance.
Central to this venture was the remarkable integration of the bathomatic system. This advanced automation was more than a functional addition; it was an embodiment of discreet luxury. The bathomatic technology enabled a fully automated experience, filling the bath to the desired level and temperature with no visible mechanics, creating an illusion of magic.
The tap, a pioneering design in itself, complemented this feat. It was the first of its kind, offering the dual convenience of traditional manual use and sophisticated automated control. This innovation allowed for a seamless transition between a classic bathing experience and the modern, automated luxury provided by bathomatic.
Every aspect of this gemstone bath was crafted with meticulous attention to detail. The lack of visible drains or overflow channels enhanced its seamless, natural aesthetics. The custom designed smart drain features a discreet round cavity, enabling efficient drainage and water temperature recirculation without exposing any metal parts. Uniquely, it incorporates the gemstone removed during the drain opening. Overflow prevention in this system is electronically managed, enhancing both safety and efficiency
The “quadro-flow” tap, initially proposed and then crafted, features an automated bath filling and water recirculation outlet marked in red here, significantly enhancing a standard tap’s functionality
The finished “quadro-flow” floor-standing tap, meticulously crafted to perfection, incorporated all the desired functions – hot, cold, hand shower, bathomatic filler recirculator – in the chosen gold style
Handled with care, the heavy and precious bath underwent drain part affixing and testing before placement. The drain mechanisms sit half a floor below the bath, meaning the empty bath depth is around 1.5m, with full bath depth reaching 450mm higher
For our engineers, ’empty’ or 0% bath depth meant a 1.5m difference in this setup. For end users, the elegant design hid the drain with a matching gemstone and simplified use, offering any depth and temperature without complexities
A custom water management rig was designed, featuring multiple water mixers, a scent dispenser, and water recirculation components for maintaining temperature
After several design modifications to accommodate site-specific requirements, the final rig was constructed. It is displayed here, ready for commissioning
It’s almost eerie how this seemingly normal bathtub fills itself without any user interaction to the tap. The water flows at a rate filling the bath in less than 3 minutes
