Breath against Cov-19

Three weeks ago I entered the field of mechanical ventilation with little knowledge of its working and after studying and working day and night here are parts of the result so far.

vent0matic J is intended as a low cost (open source[1]) device for manufacturing in any part of the world using easily accessible materials utilising basic[2] manufacturing equipment.

To accelerate development this version utilises two components of the bathomatic system. These we designed and are in continuous refinement over the last decade, thus can be trusted.

The bathomatic controller will drive the ventilator and adding new functions to the WoW Switch as a potential, but not compulsory interface for the new ventilator with provide the two ends.  This intentionally leaves a gap for the logic, which in my view is the most crucial part of the device and this is where collaboration is needed.

Why we left the most critical part of this life-depending kit for crowdsourcing you may wonder? My first take is this:

With novel challenges novel solutions are need and willing participants may have the vital knowledge, which may not necessarily be exclusively medical. When this is transferred into process or ventilator logic it may produce the desired results.

There is overwhelming evidence that ventilator protocols must be changed and a critical analysis of the data available will lead to these changes.  All available modes of existing ventilators are possible too (invite participation)

We will make vent0matic J kits together with testing rigs available for remote use and software testing.  The kits will be based on Raspberry Pi Zero and may include an IP camera and a PC each. If interested in the software development and need a kit please request a remote set first

In this version we utilise one pressure sensors and the mechanics are calibrated by a “laboratory” set up.  This is necessary in order to reduce the number of sensors and replacing them with logic learned during calibration.

The mechanical part will communicate over I2C. The protocol document will be available very soon.

The proposed interface (WoW Switch) has been used by many and there are Control 4, Crestron, AMX and other drivers. We are producing a Raspberry Pi library for it now to aid your work

bathomatic eco is an environmentally friendly bath tub management system. bathomatic eco incorporates an in-line heater and a circulation pump, which maintains the water at a constant temperature for any length of time, without letting water out. Between baths, the system is fully drained to maintain hygiene levels.

bathomatic eco ultimate is a luxurious and environmentally friendly bath tub management system. It incorporates an in-line heater and a circulation pump as bathomatic eco, with the added extra of a 4 to 8 way fragrance dispenser. Every preset stores perfume and bubble bath quantities and these are dispensed automatically during the filling process. You can mix your own aromas and, once you know you likings, you would never get the amounts of bubble bath and perfumes wrong.
